My 1st Guardsmen

Alright folks, here they are, my test paint on my first guardsmen for The Byzantum Guards. There's still abit more to be done on the face and the flesh areas but i think its almost there. Numbers and symbol on the shoulder pads are freehand and does not take that long to do, just need to concentrate harder! Overall the whole mini takes me about 2 hours from start till finish, not including undercoat and basing of course. That's because of color testing and determining the camo pattern and design and location of the icons and choosing highlight colors.
Color used are; Commando Khaki, Catachan Green, Desert Yellow, Elf and Dwarf Flesh, Beastial Brown, and Devlan Mud washes.
Next, I'll work on the scheme and design for the veterans, which should be less formal and regimented as the regulars.
Thanks for viewing and comments are welcomed!

  1. That is a gorgeous paint job. The camo scheme is really smooth and your shading and highlighting is damn near flawless. Great work! I'm going through some test minis as well for the guard just to see how the army painter looks on em. I doubt I'll get something as great as yours though:)

  2. He looks quite scrumptious man. Are you going to do the whole army to the same standard?

  3. thanks guys, and yes, i do hope to be able to achieve this as the standard quality for the army. Along the way, I'll probably have some shortcuts to cut down delivery time

  4. Great looking mini - could you give a quick breakdown on how you did him? I'm getting a few guardsmen ready to test out myself.

  7. Thanks again guys.

@Simon - I'll try to put up a step by step tutorial to achieve the results above. It's rather quick, really, after testing out some basic colors...
